Marketplace rules
The LocalKS Marketplace is for neighbors buying and selling everyday things, locally and in person. A few rules keep it useful and safe — by posting or buying, you agree to them (and to our Terms of Service).
Prohibited items
These may never be listed. Posting them gets the item removed and can get your account suspended.
Weapons & ammunition
Firearms, ammunition, explosives, and weapon parts or kits.
Drugs, alcohol, tobacco & vape
Any drugs or drug paraphernalia, alcohol, tobacco, and vaping products.
Prescription medication
Prescription drugs and medical devices that require a prescription.
Live animals
No animal sales. Rehoming with a fee counts as a sale — it's not allowed.
Counterfeit goods
Fakes, replicas, knock-offs, and unauthorized copies of branded products.
Recalled items
Products subject to a safety recall (car seats, cribs, appliances, etc.).
Stolen property
Anything you don't have the legal right to sell. We cooperate with law enforcement.
Adult content
Pornography and sexually explicit material or services.
Illegal services
Anything that breaks federal, Kansas, or local law — items or services.
List honestly
- Use real photos of the actual item you're selling — no stock photos passed off as your own.
- List a real price. "$1" placeholders and bait-and-switch pricing get removed.
- Describe the item accurately, including flaws and defects.
- Post in the right category and the right city.
- Mark your item as sold once it's gone so buyers stop reaching out.
Stay safe
- Meet in a public, well-lit place — many police stations offer safe-exchange zones.
- Bring a friend, and tell someone where you're going.
- Inspect and test the item before you pay.
- Pay with cash or a verified payment app in person.
- Never wire money, send gift cards, mail payment, or pay a deposit sight-unseen.
- Report anything suspicious from the item page — we review every report.
LocalKS never handles payment. All transactions are between buyer and seller, in person — anyone asking you to pay online through this site is a scammer.
Enforcement
Every new item is reviewed before it goes live, and listings expire automatically after 30 days. We remove items and suspend accounts at our discretion — including for anything that violates these rules or our Terms of Service. If you see something that doesn't belong here, use the "Report this item" link on the item page.
